Communication errors are costly. In important conversations, where details are being covered, you can be the one to take responsibility for the quality of the communication whether you are the sender or the receiver. If you are providing details you can say, " I want to be sure I did not miss anything, could you summarize what I've covered so far?" If you are the receiver of the information, you could say " Here is what I think you are suggesting, can you tell me if I got that right?" In either case, you can be the person to prevent a "communication miss," and in doing so you can model good communication techniques for others on your team.
