Leadership Essentials
By delivering this effective training in this method, it enables the students to learn new skills, apply them on the job for a week, and then return to the next training session where they can discuss their actual on the job applications. Then they learn the skills of the next new module.

Management Series

Purpose

To create a more productive and efficient organization by developing a participative management culture.

  • For individuals, the Supervision Series provides the opportunity to develop proficiency in leadership, management functions, supervisory skills, and interpersonal relationships.

The programs will improve relations between leaders and team members by increasing worker and leader productivity, and reducing stress for both parties.

With the Vital-Online versions, individuals can take advantage of training any time and anywhere, supporting their life-long learning goals.

  • For organizations, the Supervision Series provides the opportunity to improve productivity and profitability through teamwork and cooperation; reduce mis-communication between supervisors and workers; reduce absenteeism, worker turnover, and friction in the workplace.
As Supervisors and Managers have been through the course with consistent, positive feedback, its now clear that the skills taught in the Supervision Series, and the methodology used to train those skills, are of value to leaders at all levels within Molex.

Benefits

  1. Leaders develop practical skills to handle situations ranging from recognition to discipline.
  2. Leaders use available resources and skills to increase team member job performance.
  3. Supervisors easily transition from a role of following directions to giving directions.
  4. Training occurs in short intervals which means less time away from the job.
  5. The ongoing system of training provides consistency of knowledge and skills throughout the organization building a proactive, productive culture.
  6. There is an immediate positive return on investment because participants are trained in areas of specific need, skills are learned quickly, the learning experience is related to their situations, and retention of skills is very high.

Key Learning Points

The fundamental premises of the Supervision Series are to:

  1. Deal with team members on a day-to-day basis to enhance their self-esteem.
  2. Base discussions about performance and work habits on team member behavior rather than personalities or attitudes.
  3. Use effective listening techniques to increase team member's motivation to perform.
  4. Encourage team members to participate in setting goals and solving problems.

Each course has its own specific skill points and learning objectives. These are described in the individual course Objectives and Skill Points

Program Components

When we rolled this workshop out to our managers, several of the first executives who participated recognized that it had the potential for helping us generate strategic results such as improved customer retention, increased profitability, and reduced turnover of key employees. Based on that observation, we now refer to the workshop internally as Managing People for Results.

There are 12 separate training courses in the Supervision Series - Leadership Essentials. Each may be taken independently of the others, however it is highly recommended that Essential Skills of Leadership and Essential Skills of Communicating be taken first because they are the foundation of the other programs that address interpersonal skills and functional skills. Leadership Plus modules build on these essentials and target advanced skills.

The classroom version of each course is designed to be completed in one-half day. The Online versions normally take 1 1/2 to 2 hours to complete. The Supervision Series Online version can be accessed through our online campus.  Both classroom and online versions of the courses cover the same skill points and each version uses the same participant workbook. The administrator materials for the classroom version include:

  • an instructor guide
  • video demonstrating negative and positive team-member/team-leader interaction for role modeling and
  • PowerPoint files

For each course, the instructor chooses whether to use the scenarios in office settings or industrial settings. Experienced trainers will have no difficulty using the well-designed instructor guide to deliver the programs flawlessly.

Whether you need a simple classroom skill-builder for a few employees, or an internet-based training solution that reaches thousands of people in a global organization, you'll find it here. Vital Learning offers you unparalleled flexibility in how, when, and where you implement training. Choose from the classroom and computer-based formats you need to make powerful and measurable improvements in the supervisory functions of your company.
